Senior Android Mobile App Developer

About the role

This is an eight-month, full-time, day-shift, project-based engagement from 12 October 2026 to 30 June 2027. You must be available to start on 12 October 2026. Work is hybrid: two days per week onsite at an office in Makati City, with the remaining days remote. You will support mobile product delivery for a major Philippine bank. Depending on performance and the client's needs, strong contributors may be considered for absorption by the client organization. As a Senior Android Mobile App Developer, you will design and build native Android applications that improve the user experience and support the product's mobile strategy. Working with cross-functional teammates, you will create applications that are intuitive, scalable, and reliable across a wide range of Android devices.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable Android applications in Kotlin, using Android's native SDKs
• Develop and integrate features with design and product teammates so user interface and user experience standards are met
• Keep code quality high through modern architecture such as MVVM and dependency injection with Hilt or Koin. Familiarity with Jetpack Compose is ideal
• Implement and support unit and integration tests, and diagnose bugs and performance issues
• Work with backend engineers, product managers, and designers so delivery stays coordinated
• Create and maintain technical documentation, and participate in code reviews to uphold quality and share knowledge
• Stay current with Android development trends, libraries, and tools. Training and upskilling support is part of the engagement

What you'll bring

• Availability to start full-time on 12 October 2026, work day-shift hours, and attend onsite work in Makati City two days per week through 30 June 2027
• 5 or more years in native Android development, with proven experience building and maintaining mobile applications
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin and experience with Android Studio
• Familiarity with Android Jetpack libraries, ideally Jetpack Compose
• Practical experience with dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt or Koin
• Solid understanding of MVVM and client-server architecture for Android applications
• Proficiency with multi-module project structures and a modular, maintainable codebase
• Experience connecting Android applications to backend services through RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of Android core libraries and features, including Room, LiveData, ViewModel, and Navigation
• Understanding of local data persistence with Room and of handling user data securely
• Familiarity with unit testing and automated testing frameworks such as Mockito and JUnit, and with performance optimization
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
• Clear communication and the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment

Nice to have

• 10 or more years in native Android development, with proven experience building and maintaining mobile applications
• Technical leadership on large-scale Android applications, including architecture decisions, development standards, mentoring, and technical direction
• Experience designing scalable Android architectures for enterprise or high-traffic applications, including modularization and long-term maintainability
• Experience in banking, financial services, payments, fintech, or other regulated environments, especially applications that involve transactions, accounts, authentication, or sensitive customer information
• Strong understanding of mobile security, including authentication, biometrics, encryption, secure credential and token storage, API security, and certificate management
• Proven ownership of Android applications through design, development, testing, release, production support, and continuous improvement
• Hands-on experience with Google Play Console, application signing, release tracks, internal testing, staged rollouts, and production releases
• Experience with mobile CI/CD using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bitrise, or equivalent platforms
• Experience diagnosing performance, memory, crashes, ANRs, network failures, concurrency, battery use, and device compatibility issues
• Experience with crash reporting, monitoring, logging, and analytics such as Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Analytics, or equivalent tools
• Strong understanding of mobile-to-backend architecture, RESTful APIs, authentication flows, API versioning, and error handling
• Experience working with product managers, architects, backend engineers, QA, cybersecurity, DevOps, designers, and delivery managers
• Experience contributing to coding standards, architecture guidelines, code-review standards, and technical documentation
• Ability to mentor developers and raise the technical capability of a team
• Experience in Agile or Scrum enterprise delivery, balancing timelines, quality, security, and technical debt
• Experience with iOS, Flutter, React Native, or shared mobile architecture
• Ability to evaluate technologies and make pragmatic decisions based on scalability, security, maintainability, performance, cost, and business needs
